Lowering attic temperature
I have an unfinished basement, well waterproofed with cement block walls and concrete floor. All but the top 6 inches are subway, would it be worth insulating the walls down there, how would I go about it? We have fairly long, cold winters and the summers are generally mild, some 90 degree F days, but mostly between 70 and 80 degrees.
I would insulate it by building a false wall in the front, insulating with fiberglass blocks (sp?) and putting up a plastic vapor barrier. For the false wall, some do 2×4, others 2×3 . Some place the studs on 16″ centers, others 2′. If you ever plan to finish the basement, I would recommend 2×4 & 16″.
I can’t really answer the worthwhile part, but for how I would say use Styrofoam board. Here’s a quick rundown on how to do it. It might be a good idea to insulate. You may not feel cold/heat due to the outside temperature, but you are most likely wasting money on your heating/air conditioning bills. Just because you don’t feel cold in a room doesn’t mean you don’t run the heater too much to keep it that way.
i had 20MM FOAM IN MY FURGO AND WHEN I REMOVED IT TO REPAIR THE SHEET I SAW THAT WHERE IT GOT MOISTURE OR CONDENSATION THE FOAM ABSORBED LIKE SPONGE. IT STAYS THERE FIXED IF THEN YOU WANT TO MODIFY OR REPAIR IT IS A PROBLEM THE ROCK WOOL IS A GOOD IDEA TO RELATE MATERIAL MONEY AND TO PLACE TO PRESSURE WITHOUT GLUING IN SUCH A WAY Q AT ANY MOMENT YOU TAKE IT OUT AND YOU PUT IT WITHOUT PROBLEM
what I’m going to put is to mayeres of rockwool (which already brought my van) do not bring all the joker?I’m going to put it in the panels of the posts ke ai does not bring the rockwool and thus makes better closing the panel with the sheet. besides this material is not absorbent all kontrario, isolates the humidity and the temperatures i put it as komplemento komplemento to the wool since the wool protects a lot but the final closing does not do it. a breeze ke between in lafurgo by some side can be noticed aunke has wool..aunke the first thing will be to shield well the joints of doors and windows,..salu2
Shoemaker If it was originally constructed correctly, the cathedral sections should already be adequately insulated … In reality, there is a vapor-permeable membrane used between the decorative side you see on the inside and the functional side to which your roof is attached. While this insulation is relatively thin, it serves as an airtight barrier. The remainder of the R-value (in essence) of this roof style is known as thermal mass , where wood or thicker material is used to prevent temperature fluctuations.
