An authorized installation company, which may be the one that made the installations or another, must perform the necessary checks on the various equipment such as fire extinguishers, hydrants, sprinklers, detectors, etc., after which, and if everything conforms to regulations, will issue certificates and labels for such equipment.
We have changed the location of our business to an industrial building that we suspect does not meet the current ordinances on fire prevention and fire extinction, we want a project and minimum adequacy that we can require the competent authority.
Hello, I am going to open a cafeteria and the architect has told me that I need to update the fire extinguishers and that you make me the certificate. There are two, and she told me that one was needed for every fifteen square meters and I would be missing one, the ones that are there will have to look at them because I do not know how they are. And I would also like to know the cost of the service.
The registration of the fire protection installation must be done through the PUES telematic processor, creating a communication and a fire protection technical sheet, attaching pdf of the project, technical direction, installation certificate, and communication of the owner indicating the name and NIF of the authorized company with which he has contracted the maintenance.
Who certifies a fire protection system?
The only certification that exists in Spanish is offered by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and is known as the Certification of Fire Protection Specialists, more commonly referred to as CEPI.
What is CEPI certification?
Nfpa – fire protection specialist certification exam (cepi)
What is an automatic fire protection system?
An automatic fire detection system consists mainly of: fire detectors, push buttons and alarm siren, all connected to a detection center. This system offers an effective way to detect a fire in its incipient phase.
Smoke Detector Operability Certificate Template
CEPI is an international professional credential of fire protection knowledge, which for the first time offers a professional certification to our industry in the Spanish-speaking world. Following NFPA’s professional development strategy, the CEPI program is offered entirely in Spanish. The goal of CEPI is to foster the development of the discipline of fire protection and fire prevention in Spanish-speaking countries.
The CEPI program includes two important steps in the certification process. First, the program method provides the candidate with a period of self-evaluation, learning and improvement during the process of documenting professional experience and the necessary preparation for the certification exam. During this first step, the candidate can take a two-day preparation seminar and/or purchase a self-study guide.
Where is the fire alarm placed?
It is recommended that in each room or space in which a detector is placed, it should be located in the center of the ceiling, because the air in the corners tends to have less movement.
What is the NFPA standard?
NFPA 25, Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems, is used worldwide and provides comprehensive requirements to help ensure that suppression systems are ready to respond in the event of an emergency.
How does a fire protection system work?
Usually, a fire suppression system has built-in components that detect fires in their initial stage through heat, smoke and other warning signals. These devices are connected to an alarm system that will alert when a fire has started and take action to suppress it.

Without going into too much research, all NFPA standards have a DISCLAIMERS page immediately after the title page, where what I have just written is clarified in formal words (two examples are shown, you can check them in your standards):
Apart from this, it is also prudent to clarify that the courses given by NFPA through its training operators in Latin America, or by itself in the USA, issue a certificate of approval (a diploma, with established validity or based on the edition of a standard), example, on the NFPA 13 standard, which is not the same as a certification program (go back and check the conditions for a certification program: https://www. nfpa.org/Training-and-Events/By-type/Certifications ) and therefore, whoever has taken a 2-day course on a standard, even if it is given by NFPA, does not become an NFPA CERTIFICATE IN STANDARD XX but has obtained a diploma on it, and again, NFPA does NOT accredit him/her to certify anything.
What is NFPA 25?
NFPA 25 is a globally recognized compliance baseline for the inspection, testing and maintenance (ITM) of water-based fire suppression systems. The objective of this standard is to verify the integrity and effectiveness of the systems and to ensure that they perform optimally in the event of a fire.
Why is the smoke detector sounding?
If your detectors emit a single beep or a chirping noise every minute, this is usually an indicator of a low battery or power outage. You can change the batteries and check for a tripped circuit breaker or other indication of a power outage.
What does red light on smoke detector mean?
– Red light: When a dangerous level of smoke or carbon monoxide is detected, the red LED indicator light will flash and the corresponding alarm pattern will sound (depending on the source).
Certificate of operation and maintenance
The new RIPCI requires installation and maintenance companies to have duly qualified operators with a certificate of competence as installer/maintainer of fire protection systems. This includes fire detection and fire alarm companies.
This evaluation will consist of answering a multiple-choice test of thirty questions with three alternative answers. In order to pass, it is necessary that the student answers correctly twenty questions out of the total of thirty of which the multiple-choice test consists.
The internships are intended to complete the students’ training by means of experimentation of the contents worked on in the theoretical sessions. During the internship, the teacher will evaluate the degree of knowledge of the student (individually or in group), by means of practical exercises.
