-Sean is sick with AIDS. The character has a very powerful emotional aspect, but it’s also a very physical role, it demands a lot of work from the body. What was it like to play such an overwhelming role in both aspects?

-I don’t see a difference between the emotional and the physical, at least the way I act. It’s that the emotion is not so much given to me through words but through the body. Speaking specifically about the character, they are two inseparable things. The character is sick, his physical situation and his emotional situation are one and the same thing. Everything that happens to him on an emotional level is intimately linked to his state of health. The fact that he is such a lively character, and I would almost say exuberant, extravagant, has to do with the fact that death is chasing him. Fighting death makes his emotion of life seem baroque at times. In short, they are not two separate works to think about the physical and emotional process, they are completely tied together.

The actor adds that the evolution the character shows on screen is dramatic and an essential part of the plot. “As the disease hits him and separates him from life, his emotional relationship with the world is transformed. At the beginning of the film the character is more cynical and has more humor, he puts a distance from the disease. But towards the end there is a transformation. I think there is a moment where body and head are aligned. I did have some physical work to do, like losing weight, but beyond that it is impossible to embody this character without a link to the physical. We are talking about disease, youth, sex, dance, militancy. Purely things where the body is central. An incarnated struggle.

What is analog photography? Analog photography (also known as chemical photography) is a format that allows you to take images using roll film. Although there are different formats and types of film, they all have similar processes when it comes to developing the film. From the late 19th century until the early 2000s, this was the prevailing format.

Although digital is now the norm, analog photography still exists. Companies such as Fuji and Kodak continue to manufacture roll film, there is a market for documentary or artistic photography in this medium and there are organizations that are dedicated to rescue and enhance the value of this art. And, although companies like Canon and Nikon are now dedicated exclusively to the digital format, there are others that manufacture analog cameras for the pleasure of old and new lovers.

This type of camera called TLR (Twin Lens Reflex), whose “totemic” reference is the Rolleiflex, is a legendary camera that has written pages that already occupy an undisputed place in the history of photography.

The 120 format photographic film is the one that has the most different types, in color, black and white, slides and “specials”. It is the one used by such “current” cameras as Hasselblad, Bronica, Mamiya, Fuji, Rollei, etc…

The camera has two lenses of the same focal length but one is “better made”, it is multi-coated and optically better, the other is the “viewfinder”, it is a lens that frames the same as the one underneath, which is the one that takes the picture.

This camera takes 6 x 6 cm frames (exactly 56 x 56 mm) and takes 12 pictures from a 120 roll. It is equipped with a central shutter which SYNCHRONIZES with the flash at ALL SHUTTER TIMES (I think it reaches a time (what you call speed) of 1/500).

Hi! my father has one! And I do remember him using it. It took really good pictures. Also, it is super curious because you look from above…. When I talk to my dad I’ll ask him. He certainly doesn’t use it anymore, but knowing him, I’m sure he “greases” it from time to time to keep it in shape.
