The Manuel Rivera-Ortiz Foundation for Documentary Photography & Film is a non-profit organization based in Rochester, New York. The Foundation was established in 2009 by Rivera-Ortiz with a mission to support photographers usually underrepresented in the photographic world. This particular mission is carried out in those less developed and low-income countries in four specific program areas: book publications, traveling exhibitions, awards and grants, and educational programs.
“What is palpable and distinctive about Rivera Ortiz’s photos is their deep humanity. The heart knows it. Rivera-Ortiz’s heart instructs him to recognize, on a street corner in a remote village, the universal in the particular. He sculpts from a landscape a moment, the sky, a river, spices of roadside vendors, a mother and child, a man without an arm. Manuel Rivera-Ortiz makes it possible for us to travel with him and see what is not always evident to the foreign eye of the human being. He takes us beyond the register of these simple truths. He has the courage to first experience such lives as his, and then to bring to the rest of us a compelling invitation to open our own hearts.”-Susana Tubert, Executive Producer and Co-Founder of TeatroStageFest (Manhattan)

Did they think I was partying and drinking all the time? Nope. To be honest, I partied a lot in the United States, but most of the time my life was pretty normal. I was a regular student during the week, and on the weekends, I enjoyed having fun with my friends; that was it!
There was some kind of candy that I can’t remember the name of, but it was really good! Aside from the Starbucks, the library has comfortable areas where you can relax and study. It has lots of books and study materials, too. Plus, you can print as much as you want…it’s unreal! Once again, you cooperated UMAG!
Another activity I did a lot was going to Pittsford Village. Sometimes I liked to go for a walk, smoke a cigarette by the canal (which is beautiful), or sometimes I would go just to withdraw some money from the ATM.
I have to say I didn’t know the place was famous for the movie Forest Gump (how silly!). Well, we decided to have dinner there. At first, I thought it was nice, and indeed it was! But by the time we paid the bill…OMG!!! way overpriced!!!! I don’t remember how much each one paid, but it wasn’t cheap at all… C’MON! I was a poor Chilean! Have mercy on me! Anyway, after lunch we did some shopping in Times Square hahaha everlasting love for Forever 21…..

Information emanating from the body is constantly integrated and interpreted by the brain. We will see how body awareness is an ally for psychological interventions and daily well-being.
In this lecture we will delve into the relationship between lifestyle factors and mental health, healthy lifestyle adherence and how lifestyle (physical exercise, diet, the health of our microbiota) affects mental health. Although we know that a healthy lifestyle can improve our mental health, sometimes adherence is not easy to achieve. Time, previous acquired behaviors, social factors prevent us from being able to exercise or start a mindfulness practice.
