If, for reasons beyond your control, you are unable to register your vehicle definitively within the validity period of the temporary license, you can extend the validity of said license and its associated green plate by providing the following documentation:

1. In person, delivering all the documentation at any Jefatura or local Traffic Office. In this case, you need to request an appointment online or by calling 060.  You must bring your original and valid documentation to prove your identity:

2.  By internet, through the Electronic Registry. You must have a valid electronic DNI or electronic certificate or your [email protected] credentials to access the registry. In addition, as the presentation of your document must be signed, it is important that you verify that you have downloaded the AutoFirma program before registering. You have a service that verifies that your computer meets the requirements to be able to carry out the procedures telematically.

Once you have completed the registration, you must go to an authorized license plate issuing center with the original documentation of the vehicle that we have previously provided you with, photocopies are not valid.

A vehicle license plate is a combination of alphabetical or numerical characters that identifies and individualizes the vehicle with respect to others; they are represented on a metal plate on which the characters are engraved or affixed in an unalterable manner. In most countries, automobiles, as well as other vehicles of a minimum engine displacement, must have one plate with the license plate on the front and another on the rear, although in some places or on some types of vehicles only the rear plate is required.
