If you are elected as an INE polling place official

Every candidate shall appoint an Election Administrator who shall act as agent for the control of election income and expenses. If the designation is not made, the functions of Electoral Administrator shall fall on the candidate himself. Art, 30 Law N°19.884

The appointment of the Electoral Administrator shall be made before the Director of the Electoral Service or Regional Director, as the case may be, at the time of the declaration of candidacy. If the appointment is not made, the duties of the Electoral Administrator shall fall on the candidate himself/herself.

In the event of death, resignation notified to the candidate and informed to the Director of the Electoral Service, removal or rejection of the appointment by the Electoral Service of the electoral administrator, the candidate shall appoint another to replace him/her, in the manner established for the original appointment. Art, 37 Law N°19.884.

If the candidate does not formalize the replacement within five days from the date of knowledge of his death or resignation, or from the date of his removal from office, the functions of administrator shall fall on the candidate himself.

Electoral Bodies

The National Office of Electoral Processes has the essential function of ensuring the faithful and free expression of the popular will, manifested through the electoral processes, referendums and other types of popular consultation in its charge.

m.- Receive and forward to the National Jury of Elections the request for registration of candidates or options in national processes, for the issuance of credentials, reporting on compliance with the formal requirements demanded.

p.- Establish the mechanisms that allow the representatives of political organizations and observation bodies to follow up on all activities during the processes under their charge.

2. To draw up the lists of those eligible to perform the electoral service, in accordance with the provisions of the law, and to send them to the Civil and Electoral Registry Commission for their review and purging, and to the Regional Electoral Offices for the corresponding drawing of lots.

8. To total, adjudicate and proclaim the candidates elected in the regional, metropolitan, municipal or parish elections, when the corresponding electoral boards have not proclaimed the winning candidates within the period established by law.

5. To provide for the organization, administration, operation and evaluation of the National Electoral Board, except in those cases in which the law has reserved it to the National Electoral Council.
